“I’m Weaving Production Manager now, but my journey here has been quite a ride.”
How long have you been at Camira?
I’ve been at Camira for 18 years - I’m a Weaving Production Manager now, but my journey here has been quite a ride.
What does your role involve?
My role involves overseeing the production of fabric for transport, ensuring that we produce the highest quality products for our customers. We focus on creating a safe environment for our employees and engaging them in continuous improvement and efficiency projects. It’s all about making sure we deliver on our promises while fostering a culture of safety and innovation.
How has your career evolved?
I started as a Stock Keeper in the logistics department of our Cut & Sew area back in 2006, right after graduating from university. At the time, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my life. But the greatest discovery was that I had a passion for manufacturing. I found my place immediately, and it’s been an amazing journey since then.
After a few years, I moved into a role as a planner in weaving logistics, and eventually, I was promoted to Weaving Manager. In the last few years, my responsibilities have expanded to include more technical activities, which has been an exciting challenge for me.

“Be persistent and follow your vision. Even when you hear 'no,' you can always find a way.”
What advice would you give to young women in textiles, or the workplace as a whole?
Be persistent and follow your vision. Even when you hear 'no,' you can always find a way. Stay focused on your goals, no matter the obstacles.
What challenges do you face as a woman in the workplace?
A lot of the challenges are related to confidence and technical knowledge. Sometimes, people may not see women as capable of gaining the technical skills required for certain roles, or they may question whether we can handle them. It’s something I’ve had to overcome, but I believe that, with time, those perceptions are changing.
What unique perspectives do you feel women bring to the workplace?
I see women as having high standards when it comes to processes and quality - We bring a strong drive for change and growth - our values, inner light, and motivation can unite those around us to achieve shared goals and build a better future.
I’ve been fortunate to have the support of my managers and colleagues at Camira - They’ve been there for me, offering the right guidance and conversations at the right times. It has helped me through some of the more difficult situations, both in my career and personal life.
Women have the power to influence change. We need to embrace that power and use it to make a difference.
