REACH Declaration

REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) is the principal regulatory framework governing the manufacture, import, supply and use of chemical substances within the European Union and the United Kingdom.

The objectives of UK REACH and EU REACH are to protect human health and the environment from risks associated with chemicals while supporting their safe use throughout the supply chain.

In accordance with UK REACH and EU REACH, textile products manufactured by Camira are considered articles that are not intended to release substances under normal or reasonably foreseeable conditions of use and therefore do not require registration as articles.

To address its obligations as an importer, article supplier and downstream user of chemicals, and based on information provided by its suppliers, Camira monitors information published by the ECHA and implements controls where required by applicable legislation. As such, Camira is committed to the following:

  • Maintain accurate chemical compliance data, including supplier declarations, safety data sheets and other relevant compliance documentation.
  • Periodically review chemical substances used within products and manufacturing processes, and
support substitution where required by legislation, customer requirements or internal risk assessments.
  • Where required by applicable legislation, obtain, verify or maintain any necessary registrations, authorisations, notifications or approvals relating to the manufacture, import, supply or use of chemical substances.
  • Maintain processes to identify, assess and monitor the presence of substances of very high concern (SVHCs) within articles supplied by Camira.
  • Where an SVHC is present above applicable UK REACH or EU REACH regulatory thresholds, fulfil relevant communication, notification and information obligations and work towards substitution where reasonably practicable.
  • Seek to minimise and, where feasible, eliminate SVHCs from products through supplier engagement, chemical management and product development initiatives.
  • Communicate relevant chemical compliance information to suppliers, customers and other downstream users as required by applicable legislation or customer requirements.

This declaration will be reviewed periodically and maintained as documented information in the ‘Our Policies’ section of the Camira corporate website.
