SoundHush: Acoustic Solution Specialists

The acoustics of a room are one of the most important, yet often overlooked, features of its environment. In the same way that light is a key consideration when designing a space - identifying where it should be maximised, minimised, and reflective surfaces avoided – sound should be given the same concern.

We caught up with Tokeer Hussain, Director of sound solution specialists SoundHush, to find out more about this ever-growing market, and why he chose our range of acoustic fabrics to be the perfect partner for SoundHush's products.

"Acoustic solutions are needed in every interior in which echoing and sound reverberation is an issue."

At SoundHush you offer an extensive range of acoustic panels, could you tell us a little about how you came to specialise in this area of design?

There's been an ever-increasing need for sound solutions in those spaces which are affected by echo and reverberation, and over the past twenty years, we have specialised in creating products which both effectively and stylishly reduce the impact noise can have within an interior. With the introduction in 2003 of the BB93 regulation for schools (which set out minimum performance standards for the acoustics of school buildings), we focused on offering an extensive range of services - advising, designing and manufacturing the ideal acoustic solution for the end client.

We supply to such a wide range of spaces -  from education establishments and open plan offices through to community halls and leisure centres - because, essentially, acoustic solutions are needed in every interior in which echoing and sound reverberation is an issue.

For customers who are unsure of the right acoustic solution for their space, how do you identify the ideal products for their interior and where they should be located?

With 23 years’ experience in the sound absorption market, SoundHush’s wide range of products can cater for a wide range of acoustic issues. Aesthetics and acoustic performance are key to any space and, based on the particular area of concern, SoundHush would offer the correct solution for the correct environment based on the performance required and visual appearance desired.

"We all require acoustically correct environments in which to concentrate and work in. "

Acoustic panels are very much increasing in popularity, why do you think that is?

Sound absorption is needed everywhere now. With the advent of the open plan office and the use of mobile phones and laptops, we all require acoustically correct environments in which to concentrate and work in. In conjunction with the ever-increasing use of hard surfaces and collaborative working in both the office and education, the demand in acoustic panel requirements doesn't look to be slowing down any time soon.
