Recycled Polyesters

Back to Inspiration

Bring a pop of pattern with Honeycomb

Created from colour woven 100% post-consumer recycled polyester, and inspired by the hexagonal shapes of the beehive, Honeycomb is testament to the engineering skills of both man and nature alike. With the bolder shades of the delicate pattern outline softened with a stria of coloured threads, this eco-friendly fabric brings understated visual impact to interiors and is available in eight contemporary colourways.

Lucia - a green choice for panels

Launched in 1999, Lucia was the first textile designed by Camira to be woven from 100% recycled polyester - and it remains an ever-popular part of our portfolio to this day. An acoustically transparent fabric with a bold and bright colour palette, it is ideal for use as a decorative facing for sound absorbing boards.

Lucia also meets some of the most stringent environmental certifications, achieving SCS Indoor Advantage Gold, certifying compliance with rigorous indoor air quality emissions requirements, Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex, confirming it is free from any substances which may be harmful to human health, and the EU Ecolabel, a comprehensive lifecycle certification, Lucia ensures you never have to choose between durability and sustainability.

Contemporary colour blocking with Manhattan

A dobby weave fabric with a modern, geometric texture which mimics the architectural grid system within an urban landscape, Manhattan is a contemporary textile choice. Made from 100% recycled polyester, the fabric has in-built stretch for easy upholstery and is available in a colour palette which pairs bold brights with understated neutrals to offer an array of versatile shades.

Certified to the EU Ecolabel and Indoor Advantage Gold, specifying Manhattan within a scheme can contribute to major environmental building standards, such as: LEED v4, Well Building Standard, BREEAM UK and BREEAM International and more.

Oceanic - a polyester with a purpose

An exciting new addition to our collection of recycled polyesters, Oceanic is part of the SEAQUAL Initiative, designed to combat marine plastic pollution and achieve a waste free environment. Our very first textile to be woven from yarn containing sea waste, each metre contains the equivalent of 26 plastic bottles, playing an important part in reducing the waste that reaches both our landfills and our oceans.

Achieving OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 and Indoor Advantage Gold, Oceanic brings green credentials to every interior in which it is featured.

Plastic bottles get a REPREVE® with Rivet

Another significant development in our commitment to using recycled plastic, Rivet is the perfect example of how we can use our waste to create something that not only prevents harm to our environment, but is also beautiful to look at (if we do say so ourselves…). Crafted entirely from REPREVE®, a brand of recycled polyester made solely from used plastic bottles, this captivating fabric blends the aesthetic qualities of luxury woollen apparel with modern performance sportswear.

Launched in 2016, each metre of Rivet contains 22 plastic bottles (500ml in size), and it is certified to the EU Ecolabel and Indoor Advantage Gold - making it the perfect fabric for any eco-friendly interior.

Urban - a sharply styled fabric for task seating

Taking its inspiration from the street, Urban has a sharply styled architectural look with clean lines forming a structured geometric grid pattern reminiscent of a downtown urban cityscape. Lightly textured, there’s an almost industrial metallic sheen to the freshly themed colourways which work with Xtreme and Lucia.

Woven from 100% recycled polyester, Urban also achieves the EU Ecolabel and OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100.

Closing the loop with X2

Our first 100% recycled polyester to include closed loop content, 25% of the raw material used in X2 is derived from our own waste streams, specifically polyester selvedges and yarn remnants. Available in a versatile colour palette of playful brights and subtle neutrals, the grey mélange effect and subtle dark tones visible in each shade create texture and dimension - and are also a practical solution to aid appearance retention.

Delivering on stretch, flammability and abrasion, and achieving the EU EcolabelOEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, and Indoor Advantage Gold, X2 is an all-round high performer.

Xtreme - an environmental hero

First launched in 1999, Xtreme has firmly solidified its position as an iconic Camira textile over the last twenty years, selling over 20 million metres. As a result of its enduring popularity, in 2009 we reengineered its construction to create a textile that not only possessed the flexible stretch properties, high flame retardancy and intense durability that our customers had come to know and love, but was also woven from 100% recycled polyester.

Diverting waste from landfill for over ten years, not only does Xtreme deliver on performance, it also brings a new lease of life to disposed plastic products - and has been awarded the EU EcolabelOEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, and Indoor Advantage Gold,
