Habitat for Humanity
In line with giving back to community, Camira North America continued their volunteering with Habitat for Humanity of Kent County, with their most recent visit on 20th September 2018, to help repair and rebuild homes. Habitat for Humanity of Kent County helps build homes around the area, in fact over 400 homes and counting! They have over 5,000 volunteers that log more than 50,000 hours each year. With strong values such as Faith in Action, Integrity, Sustainability, Hope, Healing Racism and Collaboration, Habitat for Humanity ultimately seeks a world where everyone has a decent place to live and where every family has a chance for a better tomorrow.
Habitat for Humanity is a volunteer-based program that revolves around providing safe, affordable housing, through building, rehabbing or repairing of homes. Their goal is to build stronger neighborhoods by increasing property values, stable safe homes, and encouraging investment and civic engagements. Lower-income families often spend the majority of their income on housing, leaving fewer resources to support health and education. Providing an affordable mortgage, Habitat for Humanity lets homeowners pay down debt, accumulate savings and build equity. They also provide financial and homeownership training to homebuyers who need to complete ‘sweat equity’ hours to qualify for assistance. They work one-on-one with the home buyers and really dig deep into each neighbourhood to focus on the needs.
"Not only are we out helping and giving back to the community, we are challenging our own values; working on teamwork and innovation whilst helping to rebuild homes. It helps strengthen our culture and values," says Bobbie Hejna, Camira's Marketing Coordinator in North America.
Through all the sweat and rain, one of our North American Regional Sales Managers, Ashley Lewis’ favorite part was knowing all her hardwork she was putting in was going to someone who was in need. Camira North America continues to seek opportunities to give back and participate in making our community a better place!
