The Apollo Victoria Theatre

The Apollo Victoria Theatre in London has been home to hit musical, Wicked, for the last 10 years and to mark the anniversary, the theatre has gone back to its historical routes with a full refurbishment.

Reigniting heritage

After locating a black and white photograph from when the theatre first opened in 1930, theatre owners Ambassador Theatre Group, enlisted Foster Wilson Architects to help restore the auditorium and reignite the heritage of this impressive building.

Seat makers Kirwin & Simpson designed bespoke cast-iron seats to replicate the ones seen in the photo and recommended Camira for the seating fabric. Our in-house team designed a moquette fabric, taking influence from the earlier fabric designs and the wave-like pattern, in a dark green and neutral colorway to complement the design of the new carpets installed. As the Apollo Victoria is a listed building, every part of the project was approved to ensure the character of the interior was maintained.

Moquette was selected both for comfort and the hard-wearing features of the fabric, which has been upholstered on 2,300 seats.
