Debuting a very special collaboration with Danish American designer Jens Risom, our stand at this year’s Stockholm Furniture Fair is a celebration of the mid-century modern design he pioneered.
Designed by Raumkontor, a design and architectural practice based in Dusseldorf, the spirt and ethos of the era has been truly incorporated into Camira’s stand, as Jens Wendland, Interior Architect and Partner at the firm, explains: "Through the design of the space, we sought to echo the pulse of the time in which Jens worked; not as pastiche, but as an effortless staging – working to embrace the holistic attitude of the period in which furniture, interior design, architecture and graphic design interlaced."
Featuring floating ceiling tiles, bold organic upholstered forms, contemporary furniture and archive material, the stand seeks to provide an experience that immerses its visitors in the world of Jens, exploring his story and witnessing how his legacy continues through Camira’s revolutionary reimagining of his textiles.
Indeed, the linchpin of the stand – the source of its inspiration and central focus – is Zap and Armadillo, the fabrics created as part of the Camira | Jens Risom collaboration. For the first time since their original creation over forty years ago, these fabrics will be available for today’s commercial interiors, officially launching on the 4th February.
Designed by Risom and reimagined by Camira, these uniquely exciting wool-rich textiles remain true to the colors, textures and tonality of the mid-century fabrics - but with a thoroughly modern twist. Embracing the zesty colour pops of the original Jens Risom designs, these vivid, playful colors are complemented by softer tones created by Camira to provide a contemporary selection of colorways.
