Clerkenwell Design Week 2018 - From farm to fabric

Back to News & Events

The highlight of the spring calendar for the UK design community is fast approaching – Clerkenwell Design Week (CDW) – taking place in London 22nd to 24th May.

This year our London showroom will have the theme ‘From farm to fabric and everything in between’. This pulls together themes from our new ‘Made By’ brand book, which tells our story as the maker, designer and manufacturer. A focus for CDW is the recolor of our best selling wool product Blazer. Blazer product displays created by stylist Nina Beresford will be installed in our showroom, and we’ll be telling the story of how this beautiful fabric is made starting with the wool fiber from sheep through to the finished product. Visitors are invited to become the maker with interactive demonstrations including a hand loom. Camira sheep displays will be installed in selected showrooms around Clerkenwell, and we will have real lambs outside our showroom throughout the week – fingers crossed for good weather! Also on display will be recent launch Synergy Quilt, with previews of Carlow and Era new colors.

We are also previewing a fabric we are making for designer Ella Doran called Waterlake. Ella is part of a collaborative project with The Yorkshire Sculpture Park where a piece of furniture will be designed using all materials sourced at the Sculpture Park. The wood for the furniture will be from trees within the park and the wool used to create the fabric will be from the sheep that live on the park. We are then spinning the yarn and weaving the fabric at our facilities.
