The SEAQUAL Collection

Back to Inspiration

United in aim, distinct in identity

United in aim, distinct in identity, these two textiles are unique in their aesthetic – created to work in harmony, or feature in splendid isolation. A multi-tonal, chunky upholstery fabric which combines and contrasts a light warp with a deeply saturated weft, Oceanic has a striking diagonal twill, whilst Quest is beautifully simple in its aesthetic, and coloured to create a delicate two-tone weave detail.

With a combined colour palette which encompasses bold brights, muted modern tones and perfect pastels, there is a shade and style for every interior within the SEAQUAL Collection of textiles.

Waste made wonderful, the SEAQUAL Collection is woven entirely from recycled plastic taken from both land and sea.

Offering an environmentally-friendly alternative to fabrics woven from non-renewable fibres, the SEAQUAL Collection brings eco credentials to commercial spaces, without compromising on performance as a result of the fabrics’ high durability – with both Oceanic and Quest certified for Heavy Duty Upholstery, and achieving over 100,000 Martindale rubs.

How are Oceanic and Quest made?

  1. With a sustainable manufacturing process, the creation of Oceanic and Quest begins with the collection of bottles and other plastic waste from the sea and beaches by fishermen.
  2. These products are then processed by SEAQUAL before being sent to Camira’s yarn supplier, who add other post-consumer plastic bottles which have been diverted from landfill.
  3. This plastic waste is washed before being shredded into a mix which is then extruded into chips before being extruded as yarn.
  4. The yarn is texturised before being sent to Camira’s ISO 14001-accredited manufacturing facility – which operates at zero waste to landfill - where it is woven and delicately dyed at a neighboring Camira site, using low-liquor dye technology, borehole water usage and heat recycling.
