200 Years of Transport Textiles: London Hire, 2017

Back to Inspiration

"We created something truly unique for London Hire." Nigel Vickers, Camira

Commenting on the London Hire development, Nigel reflects: "I'm filled with pride each and every time a project comes to fruition and we deliver a fabric solution which meets every element of a customer's needs, and the London Hire development was particularly memorable as it began with a desire to order our standard, stocked ranges and led to the creation of something truly unique, distinctively theirs, and strikingly fun."

Whilst the bespoke fabric perfectly reflects the London Hire brand and heart logo, the design brief was much more succinct than might be expected - Sarah Mallinson, Transport Designer at Camira, created the custom pattern using just the company's business card as her inspiration. Translating the grey background into the fabric's base color, and developing a repeat pattern with the heart logo in various sizes and tones, the end result is both visually impactful and stylishly on brand.

A bespoke plush wool is perfectly paired with Vita, a luxurious vinyl.

Creating a complete upholstery solution, the custom moquette was paired with Vita, a leather-look vinyl with a subtle surface grain effect. Nigel expains why the combination is so effective, "The combination of colors and textures work beautifully together, both aesthetically and in performance terms. In featuring Vita on the seat, the customer can quickly bleach clean the surface for the ultimate in sanitisation, while ensuring they retain a welcoming tactility and appearance through the wool rich plush on the seat back."

To ensure the customer is provided with the flexibility and fast delivery they need, the fabrics featured across London Hire vehicles are stock backed by Camira. As Nigel surmises, "This service level is the perfect complement to the beautiful fabric created by the Camira team - it guarantees that the customer can have the textiles they need, when they need them; and, in the fast-moving world of transport, that is so important to a successful project."
