Hampton by Hilton

Set in splendid parkland, with grandstand views over one of the most picturesque grounds in British horse racing, the brand-new Hampton by Hilton at Hamilton Park is the perfect place to stay for racecourse attendees and tourists alike.

An interior celebration of the exterior surroundings

Located in Clyde Valley, Scotland, the newly opened space is the first hotel to be located beside the famous Hamilton Park Racecourse in its 90-year history. ICA were commissioned to design both the architecture and the interior design. The striking interiors—overseen by Project Lead Nicola Ramsay—are imbued with allusion to the location’s rich heritage: from the show-stopper entrance wall featuring a giant cross-stitch horse in multicolour weave (concept by ICA, fabrication by Artistic License), to a bespoke carpet which pays homage to the people and horses that have played an important part in the history of the racecourse, the interior is a subtle celebration of its exterior surroundings.

"The design is contextual and reflects the local character of Hamilton Park."

Executive Chairman of ICA, Ian Burleigh, explains how and why they sought to so sympathetically reflect the hotel’s location throughout its design: “Hampton by Hilton Hamilton is a special project for us since it is my hometown and also where ICA started back in the early days. Hamilton Park is such an important venue for the town and this new relationship with Hilton will only enhance the growing leisure market in the area. The design of this hotel demonstrates that despite the requirements of a strong international hotel brand and the use of innovative modular construction, the design is contextual and reflects the local character of Hamilton Park.”

Pops of colour

Working with Furniture FusionICA selected Main Line Plus, a high performance, wool blend textile, and Rivet, a fabric created entirely from plastic bottles, for inclusion throughout the space. Picking Main Line Plus in vivid yellow and bold blue for the Strike bar stools located in the hotel’s bar, these pops of colour and the fabric’s soft texture are the perfect contrast for the sleek lines of the chair’s visible tubular steel frame. Elsewhere, Main Line Plus can be spotted on a sumptuous blue sofa in the hotel’s lobby, whilst Rivet makes a stylish, sustainable choice for the accompanying lounge seats.

Illustrating the power of tailoring interior design to a space’s exterior location, hotel design experts ICA have truly made this new addition to the Hampton by Hilton chain a jewel in its crown.
