Trend 04: Rejoice's colour palette
Realising the joy of risk taking we capture surprising design directions in Rejoice, the final trend for 2018/19. It’s time to rip up the rulebook and chart a new path, embracing alternative thinking for a society without stereotypes.
This trend makes order from chaos and celebrates a conscientious rebellion, where humour and strength bring an optimistic mood and encourage us to be more carefree.
Uncommon sense leads to exciting opportunities, which is reflected in the energised brights and reassuring mid tones that form a bold colour and materials palette.
Section 01: Rejoice Colour Palette
Rejoice projects style with a smile, evoking an uplifting and tactile look by combining matt pastels with nostalgic yellow tones in soft fabrics and smooth finishes.
Soft pastels (2,3,5 & 7) collide with more punctuating colours (4,6 & 9) in this materials palette of unexpected harmonies. This mix is complemented by tonal grey shades (8 & 10), which offer a neutral base. Nostalgia and comfort are embedded within this palette, using warming yellow-based hues (3,4,6 & 7) and blue undertones (1,2 & 5) for a natural effect.
This palette plays with contrasts with a striking yet welcoming look, focusing on an equal split of mid tones (2,3,5,7 & 8) and darks (1,4,6,9 & 10) that create the effect of lighter hues in certain compositions. Colours in this trend can follow multiple directions; aqua blue (5) for example appears lighter when contrasted with rich yellow tones (4 & 6) or bright pink (9) but can also become more subdued when paired with pale grey and denim blue (1).
