Environmental Policy
We want to lead by example and make Camira a model company renowned for environmental best practice. So we're doing our utmost to continually reduce our environmental impact by developing more sustainable ways of doing business. We're focused in particular on waste reduction, efficient use of natural resources, recycling and re-use. We operate to the Environmental Standard ISO 14001, hold the Queen's Award for Sustainable Development and are committed to full compliance with the EU Flower Ecolabel criteria throughout our licence period. Our objectives are set and reviewed by an Environmental Steering Committee. These are currently targeting:
Waste Policy
We have a strategic goal to eliminate waste from our manufacturing activities;
- Increase recycling/re-use to reduce landfill to zero within a 3 year period
- Improve waste streams - reduction/separation of waste yarn, fabric and other waste types
- Reduction of effluent and compliance with legal requirements
Energy Policy
We are committed to developing and maintaining a high standard of energy awareness;
- Energy Management is key to our business goals and is fully supported by the entire management team.
- Create, communicate and execute an Energy Management Policy
- Reduce energy use by 20% within a 3 year period
- Reduce our Carbon footprint & continue our offset programme
Sustainable Sourcing & Product Policy
We don't just want to create products which look great, we want them to be environmentally sensitive too;
- Source raw materials from environmentally sound companies
- Increased partnerships in recycling raw material into finished fabric
- Develop fabrics and post-treatments that offer an improved environmental footprint
- Consider environmental impacts of product design & development.
Second Nature fabrics: made from recycled raw materials, renewable & compostable fibre types, or climate neutral through CO2 offset programmes
