We're a principal member of the Association for Contract Textiles (ACT), the contract industry's premier professional trade bodymade up of companies involved in the design, manufacture and promotion of textiles for commercial interiors. There are voluntary Performance Guidelines, represented by five symbols, which summarize key technical data and help you make sure the fabrics you specify perform to contract standards and pass all relevant testing.
Heavy duty abrasion - equivalent to 30,000 double rubs Wyzenbeeck or 40,000 cycles Martindale.
Flammability - for upholstery the flammability test method is California Technical Bulletin 117 Section E, which measures how easily a fabric sets alight and how quickly it burns.
Physical properties - covering performance over three specific areas of testing: pilling, breaking strength and seam slippage.
Colorfastness to light - measures a fabric's resistance to the fading effect of light, with a grade 4 minimum requirement on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the best.
Colorfastness to crocking - measures color permanence by rubbing white cotton crocking cloth against the fabric surface. Grade 4 and Grade 3 are needed for dry and wet crocking respectively.
