Bast fiber fabrics

In bast fiber fabrics, the textile fiber occurs naturally inside the stem of plants such as hemp, nettles and jute. We've been developing wool-bast fiber fabrics since 2006, starting with a world first wool-nettle blend to create an innovative fabric from rapidly renewable natural materials. Called Sting, this development involved high level scientific and agronomic research and took us into the realms of sowing, cultivating and harvesting bast fiber plants for modern day contract textile applications. The learning experience and knowledge expertise has transferred directly into the most recent work we've been doing to develop fabrics from harvested hemp, as well as recycled jute obtained from waste coffee sacks.
