This Friday’s round up takes a look at the mix of eclectic trends from this week’s tweets: from woven footwear, topsy turvy lighting to abstract art.
Nike have launched their revolutionary HTM Flyknit sneakers this week. Nike have used an entirely different shoe-making process to produce these one-piece, lightweight knitted uppers. Multiple yarns of varying hues have been used in the warp and weft of the knit to create some fabulous color combinations. We love the video footage of the Flyknit footwear too!
2Modern | Daiana Lamp
Soup Studio have definitely tipped conventional design on its head when creating the Daina Lamp. Daina is a classic floor lamp, with a stem and shade, but it has been designed with the lamp upside down. Interest has been created on the stem as this is the area of the lamp that lights up. The shade, which could then be deemed useless, becomes a table.
Designitecture | Paintings by John Dempcy
The paintings of John Dempcy are exuberant and full of life. To create this series of artwork John drops paint onto a wet painting surface to create organic forms. His abstract paintings are inspired by nature, and within a limited framework of colors and shapes he strives to create mystery and beauty that reflect the unfolding process of life.
