Second Nature

We’re all becoming increasingly aware about environmental impacts, which is why eco-conscious products are becoming the natural choice for many people.

We market a range of fabrics under the ‘Second Nature’ trademark which fall into three environmental categories

  • Recycled
  • Renewable & Compostable
  • Climate Neutral
  • Recycled

We’re all learning to recycle in order to reduce landfill, save virgin raw materials and give our waste materials a new lease of life as newly made products.

Our Lucia product range is manufactured from 100% post-industrial polyester, which saves valuable finite petroleum resources used to make virgin polyester. In three years we’ve saved over 1,000 tonnes of virgin yarn.

  • Renewable & Compostable

Using renewable materials means that we can be assured of their supply both today and in the future. Many materials made into fibres are renewable and sustainable including wool. More unusual sources we’re developing fabrics from include nettles, corn, bamboo, hemp and flax.

New Aquarius and Marathon fabrics are made of natural, pure new wool. Available in a wide range of colours, the dyestuffs used are non-metallic to ensure that no harmful trace is left when the products reach the end of their useful lives - they can go back to nature to fully close the loop.

  • Climate Neutral

In spring 2006, we introduced the first ever climate neutral fabric with built-in CO2 offsets. Oxygen has now been joined by sister product Illusion. The carbon emissions created during their manufacture are offset by investing appropriate amounts into projects such as renewable energy, energy efficiency or reforestation. We also offset all employee car miles for business travel.
