Trend 03: Habitat's colour palette
As the digital era opens up new possibilities for living, the role nature plays is key in our third trend direction, Habitat, for 2017/18. This season sees us slow down to be more aware of our surroundings, embracing the nourishing qualities of Mother Earth.
Habitat explores the tactility of nature to create meaningful experiences, resulting in a comforting mood. Focusing on human impact we blur the boundaries between the rural and urban to ensure wellbeing for all living things.
Reflecting a sense of balance, a series of luscious greens and neutrals form the beautiful basics of the colour palette, contrasted by grey tones for a contemporary look.
Section 01: Habitat’s colour palette
Habitat’s restorative mood comes to life through its considered blend of comforting colours, where natural and urban aesthetics unite.
A variety of rich and lush yellows and greens form the nourishing base of the palette. Bringing light and energy are the vivid mid tones (3 & 9), softened by rustic neutrals such as brown-grey (1). The dark forest tones (8, 10 & 11) are dramatic and sophisticated, balancing with both warm (7) or cool (2) pale tones as well as bright accents such as rustic orange (12).
Flecked fabrics bring greater interest with a mix of colours offering a more textural look and feel, including a chunky grey weave with delicate highlights of orange (5) and moss green (11) with flecks of white scattered across the surface.
Completing the indoor outdoor look is blue, a tranquil hue that complements rustic and industrial colours. Muted blue (4) offers a soft base to the brighter tones of Habitat, while sky blue (6) invigorates neutral shades.
