Modernising the tram network
For many, the tram is the epitome of Blackpool as a holiday resort. Introduced in 1885 the tram network has survived and grown over the years, now running from the South promenade to Fleetwood. Repairs and upgrades are a necessity to maintain this popular mode of transport and as the Department of Transport invest over £100 million into the system, 16 brand new trams will be introduced in 2012.
These 32 metre long state of the art trams will carry 80 seated passengers and cut journey time by 15mins. All 16 trams have a modern interior decor with seating upholstered in Aura fabric, a rich wool moquette with a distinctive yarn string in the design treated to meet the relevant railway specifications.
