Director of Marketing
Ian is our resident marketer, linguist and wordsmith, who builds our brand and makes us stand out from the crowd with creative marketing campaigns such as Where the Lambs look after the Dolphins and No, You’re Not Seeing Things.
A first in Modern Languages saw him originally heading for a career in teaching until a spell in his old secondary school quickly put paid to that! Instead, he began his working life in customer services for a major utility company, then took a marketing role in the food industry, which opened his eyes to the delights of chicken and fish factories in both the UK and abroad! With stints at Aerospatiale in France and Siemens in Germany, and a year teaching at a French Grande Ecole, he arrived at Camborne Fabrics in 1996 and little did he know that he’d still be here all these years later. In the interim he’s re-branded the company from Camborne to Interface Fabrics, then from Interface to Camira, been the architect of Queen’s Awards in Innovation and Sustainable Development, and designed and delivered RIBA accredited CPD programmes at practices throughout the UK and overseas. He’s now involved in international market expansion strategies and embracing the latest social media to connect with our customer base right around the world.
CIM qualified, Ian rarely switches off, but to wind down loves spending time in his garden which was designed by Camira textile designer Penny Lovatt, watching live music or next best listening on audiophile hi-fi, or doing his favourite Yorkshire Dales walk from Muker to Keld and back with his partner Sharon. He’s a veteran of four Great North Runs and only wishes his knees would still allow him to do the half marathon sub 1.25.
